A cultural centre hidden in a quaint scenic village in the Pathanmthitta district of Kerala, the Vijnana Kala Vedi (literally meaning a Centre for Knowledge and Arts) is probably one of Kerala's only cultural training centres offering a wide range of training in the different cultural highlights of Kerala. Established in 1977 by a French woman called Louba Schild under the Indo French cultural exchange program, the centre is dedicated to preserving the arts and heritage of Kerala.

People from across the globe come here to attend classes or workshops in a wide range of subjects ranging from Indian dances, music, painting, cooking, martial arts and yoga to languages like Sanskrit and Hindi. Mural art, floor art and wood carving can be learnt too. Individual lessons are offered for most subjects. A minimum stay of one week is advisable for actually experiencing the true culture of Kerala. Travellers undertaking courses at the centre can also choose to contribute back to society by teaching English in local schools.

The centre provides comfortable accommodations in rented homes scattered around the quiet scenic village.
